laura + rik

Laura and Rik’s colorful, floral-infused wedding day brought together two adoring families in one chic setting. We had so much fun working with this couple, because Laura wore not one, but three Heidi Elnora dresses throughout the evening. We even custom designed a maid of honor gown for the bride’s daughter Violet!

Alabama wedding photographer Arden Ward Upton with Arden Photography captured every detail of the day with an authentic, elegant eye. We especially love the intimate getting ready moments at the luxurious Valley Hotel, where both the ceremony and reception took place. Popular local beauty team GLOW styled Laura’s natural bridal makeup and her Hollywood waves, which beautifully complemented all three of her wedding day looks.

For the ceremony, Laura wore our Voss Ivey crepe wedding dress, one of Heidi’s newest designs in our Build-A-Bride collection. This minimalist wedding dress with open back features an angled plunging neckline and sexy wedding dress slit. Laura’s clean and modern wedding day look was a striking combination paired with Rik’s designer suit by Canali. The couple’s complementary vintage wedding bands by Levy’s Fine Jewelry were the perfect finishing touch.

Both Laura’s and Rik’s children served as the wedding party; the boys looked handsome in their suits by Mr. Burch Formal Wear, while daughter Violet wore a custom evening gown created especially for her by our designer Heidi. Violet’s designer dress is built around our Talia Jo gown, a dress with a straight neckline and sheath silhouette. Violet selected a gorgeous champagne silk fabric and opted to add a slit. Always bringing in her designer touch, Heidi customized the back of Violet’s gown to feature sheer corseting and rows of champagne fringe dripping down the back of the gown. We loved outfitting both Violet and Laura for this big day, and they were a joy to work with!

Laura and Rik exchanged vows atop a stunning round altar that was surrounded by whimsical flowers in shades of pink and purple–HotHouse Design Studio created something truly magical with this unique wedding altar! The live acoustic music by Roman Street created an intimate environment for the ceremony.

After saying “I do,” Laura changed into her second Heidi Elnora wedding dress of the night: Sugar Magnolia, our sexy crepe wedding dress with high neck and daringly low back. Laura swept her hair to the side to showcase the gown’s dramatic tie at the back of the neck, and added an artful turquoise earring to transition into the fun reception.

The ballroom wedding reception venue came to life with layers of fresh florals set against shades of deep green and unique dark floral linens by Nuage Designs. The drapery and lighting by AG Lighting enveloped the space with an elegant atmosphere, which was further enhanced by the sleek rentals by EventWorks. Even the wedding stationary by Paperhaus and grand stage that wedding band Port City Party Band performed on carried through the modern floral motif. We adore the custom wedding monogram that added a subtle, chic detail to the front of the stage. Top wedding planner Christopher Confero and his team at CONFERO truly transformed the Valley Hotel into a magical, yet modern affair fit for this fashion-forward couple.

Laura and Rik shared a sweet first dance and dinner with their guests before Laura changed into her third and final Heidi Elnora dress: a custom floral minidress Heidi designed just for Laura. Laura loved the idea of a wedding send-off dress that wasn’t white, and when Heidi showed her one of her favorite watercolor floral fabrics that is hand painted in Italy, Laura instantly fell in love! In fact, the vivid shades of purple, pink, and green served as the inspiration for the entire wedding color scheme. Laura trusted Heidi completely to design a chic and sexy wedding reception dress, and Heidi opted for a nude corset-inspired dress design. Heidi and our design team then cut out artful floral appliques from the fabric and appliqued them by hand to trail up the dress in an organic, textured arrangement. The final result couldn’t be a more perfect floral mini dress.

Laura wowed guests when she entered the reception space in her colorful designer dress that perfectly matched the bright florals surrounding her. As the party continued, Laura and Rik cut the gorgeous modern tiered wedding cake by Cakes by Kim. All of the evening’s moments were captured by wedding videographer Wages Films.

When Laura first entered our atelier, we would not have imagined that we would create four unique looks for her wedding day, but every look was bridal perfection. It was such an enjoyable creative process to work with this fun bride and her family to create design magic! Best wishes to Laura and Rik!
