sara + wil

Sara’s couture wedding dress is one we will never forget, and we truly enjoyed working with her to design it for her beautiful August wedding. Sara is not only a #HeidiBride, but she is a former employee at the Heidi Elnora Atelier! We knew we needed to pull out all the stops for a bride with a unique understanding of wedding dresses. Our design team loves a creative challenge!

Popular Birmingham wedding and event planner Christopher Confero designed Sara and Wil’s wedding, while local wedding photographers Rob and Wynter captured every detail of the day to perfection. From the classic wedding invitations, to the Birmingham-themed welcome gifts with Louisiana flair provided to each guest, to the shower of rose petals that sent the newlyweds off in style, every single detail of Sara and Wil’s wedding was thoughtfully and intentionally designed. One detail we adore is the coordinated monogrammed getting ready robes Sara and her bridesmaids wore

Our Louisiana bride Sara worked one-on-one with our fashion designer, Heidi Elnora to custom design her designer wedding dress using custom patterns and special embellishments sourced just for her. The trumpet wedding dress silhouette leads into one of the most dramatic wedding dress skirts we’ve ever created! Our dress artisans sourced a unique Parisian lace from the same design house that creates all of the beautiful lace pieces for the House of Chanel as well as the lace used on Princess Kate Middelton’s wedding dress. They hand-sewed this Parisian lace along the wedding dress train--look closely and you’ll notice all the gorgeous hand-beaded details and delicate plumes of feathers that make this a one-of-a-kind wedding dress.

To allow Sara’s wedding dress to serve as a two-in-one wedding dress look from ceremony to reception, we designed a custom off-the-shoulder wedding dress neckline to transform into an elegant sculpted strapless neckline with a structured bow detail. The result was a stunning wedding dress with a bow that felt reminiscent of Old Hollywood glamour that tied in perfectly with her vintage wedding ring. From start to finish, Sara describes her custom wedding dress design experience as a “dream come true.”

“From the moment you walk through their doors, you are their #1 priority,” says Sara. “The atelier is stunning, Heidi and her staff are incredible, and the gowns could not be more beautiful! You can rest assured that you will be in very good hands when making this important decision.”

To complete her timeless wedding day look, local hair stylist (and Heidi’s longtime best friend!) Jeremy Stephens of the Jeremy Stephens Salon--an award-winning and top wedding hair stylist in Hoover, Alabama--created soft curls that gave Sara elegant Old Hollywood vibes. The classic wedding style continued with the grey bridesmaid dresses and black tuxes worn by the wedding party.

After the church wedding ceremony, guests entered a stunning wedding reception at the Birmingham Museum of Art, which was draped floor-to-ceiling in dramatic wedding florals in natural shades of green and white by Cece Designs, a Birmingham wedding florist. The centerpiece of the reception was a stunning all-white multi-tiered wedding cake by local wedding cake artist The Cakerie. The wedding catering featured southern food specialties and the couple’s signature cocktail: a Moscow Mule. The New Orleans style jazz band kept the crowd dancing all night! For their wedding send-off, Sara changed into a ruffled white jumpsuit that ended this extravagant wedding with style.
It was a true joy and honor to create something special and completely one-of-a-kind with Sara’s couture wedding dress. We adore working with brides who trust our custom design process and allow us to be creative and design something completely personal to them. Sending all our love to Sara and Wil!
