megan leigh + carpenter

Megan Leigh and Carpenter’s wedding brought together classic elegance mixed with pure fun from a couple that is always the life of the party. Their wedding was planned by local Birmingham wedding planner Becky’s Brides and photographed by Birmingham wedding photographer Leslie Hollingsworth Photography. Says Megan Leigh, “From start to finish I was surrounded by my favorite people in the world, and the day was absolutely perfect.”

The wedding day started with Megan Leigh getting ready alongside her closest friends. The bridal party had their wedding hair done by Halee Brooke and their wedding makeup done by Be-loved Beauty. While the bridesmaids wore one-shoulder pewter-colored bridesmaid dresses, Megan Leigh stepped into a custom Heidi Elnora Atelier wedding dress. She started with the Codie Lee silhouette, which is a modern trumpet style gown with a low v-neckline and low v-back. Megan Leigh worked with Heidi to add a gorgeous lace overlay and custom hand-sewn beading to add a touch of her bohemian personal style to this classic wedding dress.

Says Megan Leigh about her experience at Heidi Elnora Atelier, “I loved everything about it! I had six appointments scheduled with wedding dress places, and I cancelled the rest after going there. I loved that I could come in and completely design what I wanted from start to finish. My dress was a dream--it was me.” Heidi also custom designed a fun lace crop top that Megan Leigh wore for her rehearsal dinner with wide-leg white pants--scroll to the end to see this look!

Since Megan Leigh grew up listening to Beatles records with her dad, she knew she wanted to incorporate this special memory into her wedding day. Her ceremony music was comprised of Beatles songs played by a string trio, complete with Megan Leigh walking down the aisle to “Here Comes the Sun.”

Following the intimate wedding ceremony at Birmingham wedding venue Bridgestreet Gallery and Loft, Megan Leigh and Car were transported via Coats Classic Car and Rare Transportation to their grand wedding reception at Regions Field, the home field of the Birmingham Barons baseball team. The wedding planning team at Becky’s Brides worked with a collective of Birmingham’s top wedding vendors--including PropHouse Birmingham, Decor to Adore, Hot House Design Studio, Onsite Productions, and BBJ Linens--to bring Megan Leigh’s exuberant vision to life.

“I’ve always loved to dance and wanted to go back in time to a funky dance club,” says Megan Leigh smiling. The showpiece of the entire reception was a ceiling covered in sparkling disco balls. Megan explains, “Becky worked with Hot House Design Studio and Onsite Productions, for the disco ball installation. They asked me a couple weeks before if I wanted the largest disco balls to spin, and I said absolutely!”

As the guests danced the night away, local wedding videographer Hampton Road Studios captured the vibrant energy in the room. Megan Leigh and Car’s wedding cake was created by Birmingham cake artist Barb Sullivan of Barb’s Cakes, which looked like a true-to-life vision of the beautiful M. Harris Design wedding stationary that welcomed guests to the event.

We are so excited to see Megan Leigh and Car dance into this new chapter in their life together; we wish them so much happiness!
